A happy heart makes the face cheerful; using scripture to live a happier life.

Happy Monday (haha!)

Have you ever met someone who was always happy? Don’t you wonder why nothing bothers them? And in the contrary have you met someone who is always bitter or as I like to call them “resting witch face”

.
Recently I came across Proverbs 15:13 ~A Happy heart makes the face cheerful but heartache crushes the spirit ~ I know it’s hard to have a happy heart during times of heartache, but I wondered if we at times choose to be bitter over small things. (Like when my daughter doesn’t want to eat her food)

I’m a big culprit of this, so many times I’ve subjected my poor husband with a “not-cheerful” face all because I was in a bad mood over something that I can’t even remember. He’s not deserving of this, especially after a long day of work, he rather see a cheerful face when he gets home.

So wether your heartache is over something big or something small, the Bible tells us to work on changing our hearts to a happy heart. You can’t rely on someone or something to do this for you. The power is within you. Choose to be happy regardless of your circumstances and you will soon be just like that person who always seems happy and everyone wants to be around.

What dumb stuff have you gotten really upset about in the past? Can you look back now and see how irrational it was? No worries we’ve all been there!

Top Bible Verses for Anxiety

I’ve suffered in and off with anxiety, and when life gets too hard I have found that turning to scripture and prayer calms my nerves.

Here are my top 5 Encouraging Bible Verses to fill you with peace.

Psalm 139:14

“You are fearfully and wonderfully made”  (I read this on when I need a boost o confidence)

Isaiah 26:3

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

John 16:33

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Philippians 4:6-7
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds”

My newest project is turning scriptures into beautiful hand lettering art work. I placed them in frames around my home to remind me that God is always with me. I will have them available to download in my Etsy shop as I make them. So far I have one made here –> https://www.etsy.com/listing/557839355/fearfully-and-wonderfully-made-psalm

For years now, I’ve been concerned with the ingredients in my skin care products. Some of these ingredients I can’t even pronounce. But it’s not their complicated name that concerned me, it was the potential damage they can do to us. Here are my top three biggest pet peeves.

  • Parabens: This was a buzz word for a while, the concern is that they are deemed xenoestrogens, which is a fancy word for saying that they mimic estrogen in the body. This disruption of estrogen has been linked to breast cancer and reproductive issues. Yes! reproductive issues. So in my struggle with infertility for 4 years you know this is the first one I eliminated (needles to say I dumped bags and bags full of shampoos, lotions, make-up! this stuff is everywhere. Luckily, many companies are starting to make their products Paraben Free.

  • Here’s another endocrine disruptors! and when the endocrine system is disrupted, there’s an increased risk of breast cancer also early breast development in girls, and reproductive birth defects in males and females. Unfortunately, it is not disclosed on every product as it’s added to fragrances (shaking my head). They can be found in deodorants, perfumes/cologne, hair sprays and moisturizer.

  • Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) / Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES). This can be found in more than 90 percent of personal care and cleaning products. They are known to be skin, lung, and eye irritants. A major concern is its potential to interact and combine with other chemicals to form nitrosamines, a carcinogen. These combinations can lead to a host of other issues like kidney and respiratory damage. They can be found in shampoo, body wash/cleanser, mascara and acne treatment. Scary!!!!

Now don’t panic (like I did), if you have some beauty products that contain this stuff, just get rid of it, or use what’s left of it and don’t buy it again. I’m a firm believer in supply and demand, if we all stop buying this trash they will have not choice but to stop making them. The only way to really know for sure what you are putting on your and your loved ones skin. There are many easy to follow recipes with all natural ingredients that are only good for your skin. I’ve been doing them for a while now and they are a lot of  fun to do. Plus I get to customize them to my liking.
